All Hallows College, Dublin has agreed to launch its highly successful programme, Pathways: Exploring Faith and Ministry in Cork this coming September in collaboration with the Diocesan Office of Adult Religious Education.
This programme which is now in its 24th year in Dublin seeks to offer a space for reflection and discussion about Life, Faith and Ministry. It aims to provide participants with an opportunity to reflect on and share their own experience as well as providing them with the theological and spiritual formation which will enable them to explore their faith with greater confidence. Pathways also helps to assist people to prepare themselves to respond to the needs of their Church and community and to work in partnerships and parish teams.
Pathways values the life experience which participants bring and, accordingly, group sharing is an essential part of the learning process. Participants also have an opportunity to take part in various liturgies and times of Directed Prayer during the year.
The programme will run on Wednesday nights, from 7.30 to 10.00 pm from September to May (with breaks to coincide with school breaks), will involve no exams or written assignments and is open to all adults in the diocese.
In recent years All Hallows College has helped to set up similar Outreach Programmes in various centres in Ireland and the UK and the diocese of Cork & Ross is delighted that they have now agreed to establish Pathways here in Cork. We hope it will act as a first step in answering the challenge set forth in Pilgrim Steps, the Report of the Diocesan Pastoral Strategy group in 2005:
‘There is an urgent need to address adult religious education and formation… Such faith formation and development programmes must attempt to link theology with faith and discern the spiritual needs and hunger of particular areas and groups.’
Connections Course
By way of introduction to the Pathways: Exploring Faith and Ministry’ programme, All Hallows College and the Diocesan Office for Adult Religious Education have organised a four night mini-programme in April/May of this year called ‘Connections: An Invitation to Explore your Faith’ which is intended as a sampler course that offers those interested in such a programme a first hand experience of its style and focus.
All those who would like more information about either the Pathways programme of the Connections mini-programme, please contact Sean O’ Sullivan in the Adult Religious Education Office at 021-4357765 or email are@corkandross.org.
