Resources for Parish Groups

What is a Parish Pastoral Council?

  • A body of about 12 people who are nominated/elected (usually a combination of both) to serve in a pastoral leadership role with the parish clergy in a parish.
  • This group follows a similar formation process to parish assemblies:
    • Introductory night
    • Group formation day
    • 3 nights of input/discussion
    • planning day
    • first meeting

After the first meeting the PPC needs to engage with the parishioners again in order to gain support for the vision and the agenda which they have set for the parish

It is necessary for them to gather people to assist in meeting the agenda - that is, taking on the tasks they have decided upon as it is not possible for 12 people to do everything!

The PPC is supported by the diocesan pastoral development office and members are invited to participate in events/courses/resource days offered in the diocese.
