A Book by Donal Harrington, Columba (2004) Description Prayer Reflections for Group Meetings is a collection of seventy-five texts for group prayer and reflection. The texts are composed around themes to do with parish life, ministry and Christian living. Each text is laid out on a two-page spread to facilitate reproduction for the group. Depending on what is desired, the texts can be used to enable group prayer or personal sharing or reflective discussion. The texts are intended as a resource to help groups to prepare prayer reflections that will deepen their sense of their mission and of God's presence in their work. Review by Karen Kent A follow on from his previous book of this type with Julie Kavanagh in this book Harrington places more emphasis on the needs of the parish groups, what might be on their agenda or in their vision process and provides prayers and reflections to suit. I find it a very useful text but would usually adapt texts or select appropriate parts of his prepared prayers rather than using them as written. Some of them are long and can be wordy and perhaps a shorter piece for reflection would suit many groups. On the whole a good resource, but needs adaptation to suit each group. A good guide for those responsible for preparing prayer for group meetings.
